Surprise Engagement Männlichen Wengen
Photographer for a surprise engagement on Männlichen mountain above Wengen (elevation: 7,687 ft. 2,343 m). Dinh wanted to propose to his girlfriend on the Royal Walk.
I made eye contact with Dinh as they came out of the Wengen to Männlichen cable car. It’s a 20 minute uphill walk to the viewing platform. Dinh planned to stop on the way at one of the benches. I followed at a distance. Dinh’s girlfriend should not see me. If she did, I would behave like a tourist. Normal procedure for me.
As planned, Dinh proposed marriage with spectacular scenery in the background. I couldn’t get too close but fortunately my camera (Nikon D850) takes large pictures that can be cropped afterwards.
I was the first to congratulate them after the proposal. We walked up to the viewing platform for a couples photo shoot.
Dinh’s girlfriend was unaware of my presence. I’ve become good at acting like a tourist with a camera. Getting into position can be difficult when I have no control over the situation. I normally position myself behind the girlfriend. An important part of the photo shoot is the location. I have to place the couple and the mountains in the picture. It’s good to have the experience of surprise engagements and Männlichen mountain.
A couples photo shoot after the surprise marriage proposal is included in my fee. I can also take a few pictures using your smart phone. This is popular when the girlfriend wants to announce the engagement to family and friends.
I arrived early on Männlichen mountain and kept in contact with Dinh with WhatsApp. Very useful but I only use it shortly before the photo shoot. I cannot answer queries on WhatsApp. Please send me an e-mail. I get a lot of enquiries and print out the e-mails to avoid a double booking. The e-mail is also an agreement between us when you decide to go ahead with the photo shoot. The weather can be a problem. I am flexible regarding delaying or cancelling the booking.
My fee will vary depending on the time of day, month, the year, etc. I might have to add the cost of the cable car ticket. I have a 50% discount card (halbtax card). You cab get to the location on Männlichen mountain by cable car from Grindelwald or Wengen. All my prices are here.
