A beautiful wedding in Lugano for Jane and Ian. Two Brits who live in France and work in Switzerland. They have known each other for years and decided to tie the knot in August 2015.
As I have written elsewhere, this is not a legal marriage ceremony in Switzerland. Only the local Swiss registry office (Zivilstandsamt / l’office de l’état civil / l’ufficio dello stato) civile) can conduct a wedding ceremony in Switzerland. I have been wondering what to call this ceremony with a priest. I’ve seen it referred to as “a blessing”, This can take place anywhere – in a church, on a boat on top of a mountain or in a garden. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
The ceremony was held in the gardens of the luxury Villa Sassa Hotel und Spa, Lugano and the evening celebration dinner in an adjacent room. Great service and excellent food. Awesome British DJ who kept everyone dancing!
As you can see it was a very sunny day and as a photographer it was difficult to avoid some harsh shadows on faces. I did manage to change the bride and groom’s seating arrangements before the ceremony started. I also had to compete with a family friend taking pictures and another who placed him and his video camera between the couple and the spectacular view of the lake and mountains.
