Jun Yin proposes to Shweh Fern on the Jungfraujoch. Elevation: 3,463 m (11,362 ft.) Snow all the year.
It’s nice to photograph couples without their sunglasses but it can be difficult on the snow. They cannot open their eyes!
Jun Yin contacted me a little while back to photograph this special moment in their life together. Then he cancelled! He thought it would be better to propose in Zermatt with the Matterhorn mountain. It’s a spectacular mountain. However, I feel it’s taking a chance hoping for nice weather. Where do you go if the weather is bad? Which is why the Jungfrau region is a better choice with it’s many locations.
I met this lovely couple from Malaysia at Interlaken Ost railway station at 9 a.m. It would be a surprise engagement where I am unknown to the girlfriend. I exchanged signals with Jun Yin. We had never met before!
They followed me from Grindelwald Terminal and on to the Eiger Express cable way to the Eigergletcher.
It was a busy place. The train from the Eigergletscher to the Jungfraujoch was nearly full and it was easy to sit opposite Jun Yin and Shweh Fern. (We did NOT reserve seats.) We started talking! I offered to be their guide and take a couple of pictures. They agreed and followed me to the location on the Jungfraujoch where I offered to take a few pictures of them. It worked extremely well and Jun Yin introduced me after he had proposed. Afterwards we had a photo shoot and made a short video.
“John these are amazing. The best decision ever to have contacted you for our important milestone and moment” – Jun Yin
