Photographer for another surprise marriage proposal in the Swiss mountains. This time in the snow!
A lot of snow has fallen recently. The temperature has dropped to -5 centigrade. However Ryan wanted to propose marriage to his girlfriend on the way up to the Jungfraujoch. An early morning photo shoot!
He originally planned to “pop the question” on the way down from visiting the Jungfraujoch. But I managed to persuade him that this was not a good idea. They would both be very tired at the end of the day.
They were staying in Interlaken. Their Swiss Pass gave them free travel to Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald. I advised them to buy their Jungfraujoch travel tickets from Wengen. They could buy them in Interlaken Ost railway station.
However, Ryan decided to buy them in Wengen. Swiss Pass gives you 50% discount on the Jungfraujoch tickets. (Please check!)
My price for this location is under “overlooking Lauterbrunnen Valley”
Their day was like this:
Interlaken – Lauterbrunnen. (Swiss Pass.)
Look out for me in Lauterbrunnen.
Lauterbrunnen to the location. (Swiss Pass.)
Follow me at a distance.
Purchase Jungfraujoch tickets in Wengen.
Continue photo shoot for 30 minutes. The trains to the Jungfraujoch only operate every hour. The trains from and from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen operate every 30 minutes.
Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg.
Change trains.
Kleine Scheidegg to Eigergletcher.
Change trains.
Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch.
Return:
Jungfraujoch to Eigergletcher.
Eigergletcher to Grindelwald Terminal by Eiger Express cable car.
Grindelwald Terminal to Interlaken. (Swiss Pass.)
OR Visit Grindelwald Village and then return to Interlaken. (Swiss Pass.)
We planned all this 12 hours before the surprise engagement in the snow. We had to wait to check the weather. It would have been a waste of time and resources to plan it earlier. Especially if the client decided to cancel at the last minute!
