Photographer for a surprise marriage proposal by Bachalpsee lake. Jonathan asked Shannon to marry him. A lovely couple from Canada got engaged in the mountains above Grindelwald.

Jonathan and I made eye contact by the Grindelwald-First gondola station at 8.30 a.m. This was when it opened. I recommended an early start. Bachalpsee has become a very popular place this year. Which is amazing because it isn’t easy to reach. It’s a 50 minute walk from the gondola station at Grindelwald First. The first 20 minutes are mostly uphill.

Bachalpsee lake: Surface elevation: 2,265m (7,431 ft) altitude. This was my 7th visit to the lake this year.

I had planned to propose to my girlfriend in the Jungfrau region in Switzerland and through my research of photographers in the area, John was the ideal choice. From his webpage, it was clear that he had a lot of experience with engagement photography and locations for engagement shoots. John provided assistance in selecting a location that best met the landscape we were looking for and helped with coordination prior to and on the day of the photo shoot.

On the day of the photo shoot, John and I met up discretely as discussed, and then he hiked ahead of us, meeting us at the photo shoot location. John captured excellent photos of the proposal, and for the engagement photoshoot, he helped suggest various poses and locations to best capture the natural landscape of the area. John also took some additional photos of us in some other poses and with the nearby cows, per our request. John joined us on the hike back to the second photo shoot location and we thoroughly enjoyed his company and conversation, even taking some additional photos along the way.

Within a couple of days, John had provided us with all of the photos, as well as edited photos. We requested some additional edits and John quickly made the requested changes. We really enjoyed John’s photo composition and edits, which really showcased the natural beauty of the landscape and of course, made us look great as a newly engaged couple.

Overall, John was a pleasure to work with, given his professionalism, cordial nature and photography experience. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking to have their special moment captured on camera
