A Studio Shoot with Carrie — Exploring Natural Light with the Fujifilm X100VI.

With the busy season for my daytime photography work coming to an end, I finally have more time to return to another passion: fashion editorial photography. Hurrah!

In October 2026, I met up with Carrie for another photo shoot. We first worked together last year in Zürich, photographing around the main railway station and its surrounding urban streets. A year later, we were back in front of the camera together, and Carrie looked better than ever.

The session got off to a less-than-ideal start, as Carrie arrived 30 minutes late and I had studio time booked and paid for. The delay disrupted my original plans and mood board, making it difficult to settle into the creative rhythm I had hoped for.

Rather than letting the initial frustration define the entire session, I decided to take a different approach. I focused on getting to know my new camera and exploring what it could do in a studio environment, working primarily with natural light.

The Fujifilm X100VI

This shoot was an opportunity to become more familiar with my Fujifilm X100VI, experimenting with natural light, composition, and the subtle changes in atmosphere that can transform a portrait. Sometimes, a session that doesn’t go entirely to plan becomes a useful learning experience in its own right.

The resulting images reflect a more spontaneous approach to the shoot, with the emphasis on Carrie, available light, and discovering the possibilities of my new camera.
