There are spectacular views in the mountains above Wengen, though reaching them often requires a steep uphill hike of nearly an hour from the railway station. The landscape rewards the effort with quiet alpine scenery and expansive views across the Swiss Alps including the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

Sometimes, local farmers fence off the fields, with grazing cattle peacefully occupying the spots once envisioned for photographs.
