An engagement in Lauterbrunnen at the beginning of March 2026. On a warm, sunny day beneath a clear blue sky, Joel dropped to one knee and asked the big question. 💍🏔️

Early spring in Lauterbrunnen has a quiet beauty. The trees are still bare, there isn’t much colour in the landscape yet, and the Staubbach Waterfall flows more gently than it does in summer. But none of that takes away from the magic of the valley. The dramatic cliffs, the open sky, and the peaceful atmosphere create a setting that feels almost cinematic.

Bright sunshine in the mountains can be surprisingly challenging — especially for photographers who are new to the area or don’t have the right equipment. Strong overhead light, deep shadows, and reflections from rock or snow can quickly turn a beautiful scene into a technical struggle.

Over the years, I’ve photographed many engagements in this region and learned how quickly conditions can change. Experience makes all the difference — knowing where to position a couple, how to manage harsh light, and when to adapt settings within seconds.

In the Alps, no two days are ever the same when it comes to the weather. That’s part of the adventure — and being prepared for anything ensures that every special moment is captured beautifully, whatever the conditions. 📸🏔️
