Ryan surprises Christine by going down on one knee and proposing marriage. The surprise engagement was by the Bachalpsee lake on the only day in the week that it didn’t rain. Surface elevation: 2,265m (7,431 ft) altitude.
This is a very popular tourist location in the mountains above Grindelwald alpine resort. It attracts a lot of people despite the 50 minute hike from Grindelwald First. The first 20 minutes is uphill and then its uphill and downhill to the lake.
It is best, in my opinion, to get there early. I was on the first gondola from Grindelwald to First (8 a.m.). It’s a 25 minute ride on the gondola up to First.

I don’t recommend visiting Bachalpsee if there is low cloud at the top of the Grindelwald First cable car. Unfortunately there are no webcams at the the lake to check the weather.

It’s difficult during the summer months to update my website. I have a lot of work with engagements, pre weddings, elopements etc.
