A surprise marriage proposal by lake Thun near Interlaken. A couple from the USA tie the knot as the sun rises over Thunersee.
The engagement was planned for the day before but there were black clouds in the sky. Richard wanted an early morning meeting. I was unknown to his girlfriend.
However the weather was better the next day. Infact it was a clear blue sky. This created more challenges. The sun was low in the sky and my shadow would be in the picture.
Previously, the engagement had been during the late afternoon, during the autumn or winter months. The location is a popular sunbathing area during the summer months.
The previous location is here.
How it happened
I was able to direct the couple to the shade. How did I do that when it was a surprise engagement?
I was there early (6.30 am) and was acting like a landscape photographer. Richard walked over and asked me take a picture with his cell phone.
It is a popular area and there are always people walking around during the winter months on a nice day. We need a nice day to see Niesen mountain in the background.
In the summer months there is a lot of haze around. Mountains in the distance are not clear. Spring and autumn months are the best times.
