Travelling from Interlaken to the Jungfrau region

I have received a few inquiries for photo shoots in 2021. Many would like a photo shoot in the mountains. Most of locations involve traveling by train or cable car. The tickets can be expensive but there is a “Top OF Europe” pass that offers free travel from Interlaken by train to the Jungfrau region.

Before we go any further, I would like to say that I get nothing from the Jungfraubahn for mentioning their travel offers. (I should get something but I don’t!!)

In my opinion, the “Top Of Europe” pass is a good deal. It gives you free travel by train from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald where you can connect (for free) for trains to the Kleine Scheidegg, Wengen, Männlichen, Grindelwald First, etc.

It includes free travel with the pass up to the Jungfraujoch although they recommend purchasing a seat reservation. Allow a day for this trip to enjoy the spectacular views of the glacier and play in the snow (if open).

Check out the timetable for the Jungfraubahn.

The Top of Europe pass also allows you to use the new Eiger Express cable car. Take the train to Grindelwald “Terminal”.

If you enjoy a hike, take the cable lift to Grindelwald First and hike to Bachalpsee lake.

To visit Mürren use the cable car in Lauterbrunnen (not Stechelberg). From Lauterbrunnen you will climb up to Grütschalp and take the train to Mürren.

The “Top OF Europe” pass CANNOT be used for:

— Stechelberg to Mürren and Mürren to Schilthorn (007 restaurant).
— Mürren to Almendhubel furnicular railway.
— Grindelwald Bus service in Grindelwald and the Busalp and Grosse Scheidegg.

Remember to ask your hotel for a Guest Card. It will give you discounts and most of the time free travel on the local bus service.
