Mike contacted me earlier in the month about his surprise wedding proposal. He wanted to propose to his girlfriend Kate on the Harder Kulm, overlooking Interlaken. (Note: Interlaken Switzerland and not Interlaken, New Jersey or Interlaken, California.)
I was to blend in with the tourists and take some pictures on a prearranged signal. We had never met before but Mike had sent me a picture. The signal was when Mike came over to me and asked me to take a picture of him and Kate with their camera. It’s normal for a couple to ask a stranger to take a picture when they don’t own a selfie stick.
Kate had noticed that Mike was behaving strange all day. Now she knows why! Kate’s mum help Mike choose the engagement ring.
The weather forecast two days before was bad but the Swiss Metrology Service got it wrong (again).
The Harder Kulm cane be busy. It all depends upon the weather and the time of the day. There are regular visits by Japanese tourist groups but they only seem to stay for 30 minutes before heading back to Interlaken on the Harder Kulm Furnicular railway.
